Climbing up cliffs to access higher levels is impossible in Animal Crossing: New Horizons without a ladder. Follow these steps to unlock the ladder DIY recipe from Tom Nook.
Prerequisites
To get the ladder recipe, you must:
- Pay off your 5,000 Nook Miles move-in fee
- Upgrade your tent to a house
- Unlock the museum by donating creatures
- Build Nook's Cranny shop
Craft and Place a Bridge
Once the shop is built, Tom Nook will instruct you to craft and place a bridge for incoming villagers. Provide him with the materials to receive the bridge kit DIY recipe.
Receive the Ladder DIY
After placing the bridge, talk to Tom Nook again. He will send the ladder DIY recipe to your NookPhone!
Craft and Use Ladders
Bring 4 wood, 4 hardwood, and 4 softwood to a DIY workbench to craft your first ladder. You can now climb cliffs!
Buy More Ladders
If playing co-op, other players will need to buy the ladder DIY for 500 Bells or some Nook Miles from Nook's Cranny. Or trade materials on mtmmo.com to craft more ACNH Seasonal Items!
