I am not expecting things like this to happen

As I am writing this

I have been driving across Norway, in and out of fjords and through the longest tunnel in the world. I’m now in the city of Bergen. I’m excited, even more excited than I was attending telemarketing data the marketing conference last week.I’m not kidding, the marketing conference was brilliant, but I almost have no words to describe how I am feeling about what I am about to tell you. And it’s not because I’m in Bergen (by the way, it’s an awesome city). That’s how excited I am.

Once in a while, I get surprised about how powerful blogging and marketing is. I have been blogging for a while, but I don’t think of it as business. I don’t. I love writing, and I love connecting with people. I don’t care about making money from blogging. I’m and hopefully that will turn into money, but that’s a completely different story. The one thing that surprises me more than anything about blogging, marketing and business, is the one thing that I haven’t been focusing on at all, until recently. Before I reveal anything, I want to stop what I am doing and thank Marcus – The Sales Lion for being a mentor. I’m not sure if he knows this, but following his journey and receiving his tips and awesome comments made me realize what I was doing wrong. Here it comes. Thank you Marcus The thing I learned from him, is what I believe to be the most powerful marketing technique that one person can do on his own, without a partner. So, I am focusing on.
Telling authentic stories, based upon personal experience.
That’s what I like doing, and that’s what I feel people care about. And actually, I believe that this is what’s important in life as well. Why I am excited – part 2 A while ago, I wrote about my incredible experience with. What happened is that he gave me a ride home, and I’m still excited about it.Last week, about a year later, I received the following email: Hi Jens, I’m from London, UK, and an Assistant Producer on a commercial for an international brand. We’re looking for real life stories of pizza delivery guys in Norway to incorporate into an upcoming campaign, and I came across the blog post about the pizza guy who gave a passenger a lift home. I’d like to contact the company, and the guy, to see if they may be interested in being featured in our campaign as a real life story. Could you please provide the details of the restaurant?

If used, they will of course be paid, and also benefit from the publicity.

Wow!! That’s all I can say. My local pizza place, and the pizza delivery guy might be featured in a commercial for an international brand. nThat’s the power of blogging and understanding.

Why I am excited – part 3

I used to get excited when I discovered that I had earned money by referring a product. It could be as little as $5, because to me, that was either feedback from people who trusted me (buying products I was using) or feedback that they enjoyed reading what I was writing (and they supported it by buying some of the stuff I recommended). Nowadays, I’m a lot more excited when I get feedback as words (comments, tweets and emails) and see good things happen to awesome people. And especially if I can part of the reason why it’s happening. I just love the story about, and although I never thought that it would be anything other than an interesting blog post, the lesson I learned is that we never know where blog posts will lead us. It shows the true power of story telling.
