Ignored my dashboard light and almost got stuck on the road

I had a bit of a scare yesterday and wanted to share because it might help someone else. My car's check engine light came on, but it was a steady glow, not flashing, so I thought, "It's probably fine, I'll look at it over the weekend." Well, halfway through my commute on the Sharjah airport road, the car started losing power and shaking. I barely made it to a safe spot. It turns out understanding vehicle alert indicators is more important than I realized. A steady light doesn't always mean stop immediately, but it definitely means you shouldn't delay a check, especially in our heat and heavy traffic. I got lucky it wasn't worse. If a light comes on, don't be like me, get it checked properly as soon as you can.
