The second night of the 55th annual Juno Awards kicked off Sunday with performances by Rush, The Beaches, Daniel Caesar, Cameron Whitcomb and more.
And soon to follow were the trophies: The Beaches took home group of the year for the third time in their careers, Caesar won contemporary R&B recording of the year for Son of Spergy, Whitcomb won breakthrough artist of the year, and bbno$ won fan choice.
A majority of the roughly 50 categories were awarded at a banquet on Saturday. Among those winners, the clear leader was Alberta's Tate McRae. The pop star had 17 prior Juno nominations ahead of this year's ceremony, and won six awards in 2024 and 2025 including trophies for artist and single of the year for Greedy.
She added to her stat sheet this year with an additional six nominations — of which she's already won four: artist, single (Sports Car), pop album and album (So Close to What) of the year.
Daniel Caesar, left, accepts the award for contemporary R&B recording of the year alongside his father Norwill Simmonds at the 2026 Juno Awards in Hamilton on Sunday. (Chris Young/The Canadian Press)The only award she failed to win Saturday was songwriter of the year, which instead went to Daniel Caesar, whose real name is Ashton Simmonds. The fan choice award, which was the only other prize she could have won Sunday, went to Vancouver rapper bbno$.
McRae did not attend the ceremonies Saturday.
Sunday's award categories are:
Fan choice: Tate McRae, bbno$, Cameron Whitcomb, James Barker Band, Josh Ross, Justin Bieber, Karan Aujla, Shawn Mendes, Shubh, The Weeknd.
Breakthrough artist or group of the year: Cameron Whitcomb, Goldie Boutilier, Jade LeMac, Jutes, MICO, Noeline Hofmann, Sacha, Saya Gray, Sofia Camara, yung kai.
Group of the year: Arcade Fire, Mother Mother, Peach Pit, The Beaches, Three Days Grace
Contemporary R&B recording of the year: SadBoi, Adria Kain, Avenoir, Daniel Caesar, Jessie Reyez, Majid Jordan
Saturday also featured two wins for singer Aysanabee, who picked up both the alternative album and contemporary Indigenous artist or group of the year awards for Edge of the Earth.
There was a tie for adult alternative album of the year: both Bahamas' My Second Last Album and Begonia's Fantasy Life were awarded.
And with five nominations for Hurry Up Tomorrow, The Weeknd's shut-out marks the first time in his career to see a studio album go unawarded at the Junos since his debut, Kiss Land.
With 22 career wins, he is currently the second-most awarded artist at the Junos, trailing Anne Murray with 26. The Weeknd is still eligible for fan choice tonight.
Hamilton's Raquel McIntosh won the MusiCounts teacher of the year award in one of the most emotional moments of the night, shortly before a performance by Whitcomb singing his track Options.
It came shortly before a performance by William Prince, in which he sang his For the First Time. After was an extended tribute to Joni Mitchell, who received a lifetime achievement award presented by Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Nelly Furtado also received her flowers. She was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, following a tribute that included a virtual appearance by Drake — breaking a long streak where the rapper stayed away from the ceremony after being shut out in 2011 while he was hosting.
Billy Talent received a humanitarian award Saturday, while Daniel Caesar received an international achievement award early on in Sunday's show.
