Guild Wars 2 Confirms Fourth Game Expansion and New Cantha Region Map

In addition to outlining its Spring 2022 Roadmap for Guild Wars 2, engineer ArenaNet announced plans for a fourth game expansion and new map based in the Cantha region. Such an uncover comes at the perfect time for the MMORPG, considering that Guild Wars 2 has managed to twofold its player-base in the last two or three years.

The online game's renewed success is presumably thanks to ongoing support from ArenaNet, with Guild Wars 2's End of Dragons expansion serving as the most recent model. Things weren't always turning upward for the title or its creator, be that as it may. In 2019, ArenaNet laid off a significant number of workers in the midst of a sharp decrease in studio income. End of Dragons' send off this past February was, thus, considered the last saving elegance for the Guild Wars sequel. Fortunately, it appears as though the multiplayer experience will live on for some time longer because of the expansion. It should not shock anyone, then, that the development group has significantly greater plans set up for the fantastical universe of Tyria.

Upon confirming details about the Spring 2022 Roadmap and beyond, ArenaNet teased it has a fourth expansion in the works for Guild Wars 2. Because this new content remains in the embryonic stages of production, though, the team can't uncover anything as of yet. Players shouldn't expect to hear any concrete details about the expansion anytime soon, either. There's still a lot to anticipate between sometimes, proved by ArenaNet's announcement of another story update that will introduce a new map set in Cantha and a tale fit for venturing in horde directions following the Elder Dragon circular segment. Plus, the Spring 2022 Roadmap hints at a host of forthcoming additions that users will want to investigate, including the return of Living World Season 1.

As indicated by ArenaNet, Guild Wars 2 has developed so much in the last two years that End of Dragons even outsold Path of Fire, the second expansion pack which sent off in September 2017. This spells uplifting news for the once beleaguered Guild Wars 2 that seemed as though it was hanging on by a thread as of late 2020.

Guild Wars 2 first came online in the summer of 2012. The MMORPG migrated to an allowed to-play model a couple of years later, then accepted its first expansion pack as Heart of Thorns in October 2015. Two other expansions have continued in the several years since then - 2017's Path of Fire and the recently released End of Dragons. With a fourth expansion now on the way, it's reasonable ArenaNet has high hopes for Guild Wars 2's future.
