Meet Brijesh Gajjar – an inspiring figure for those aspiring to enter politics.

Who is Brijesh Gajjar?
Brijesh Gajjar is a British politician of Indian origin. During his undergraduate studies in medicine at Cambridge University, he recognized the necessity for open communication regarding societal improvement. Below are some frequently asked questions he often encounters.

Question: So, Brijesh Gajjar, why do you support young politicians?

Brijesh Gajjar: Firstly, thank you for having me here. During my time as an undergraduate student at Cambridge University, I witnessed firsthand the importance of dialogue and debate, which encourages new perspectives for community betterment.

For as long as I can remember, I have advocated for the political engagement of younger individuals, as it's vital for a society that accurately reflects its people. Young people should be involved in politics for several compelling reasons. They are the future of their nations, and political decisions significantly impact their lives, making their voices essential in shaping policies that address their concerns. Additionally, youthful perspectives bring fresh ideas and innovation to the political landscape, fostering positive change. Political engagement empowers young individuals to advocate for issues they are passionate about, promoting social justice and equality. Moreover, by participating in politics, they can hold leaders accountable and ensure government transparency. In essence, involving young people in politics is crucial for a more inclusive, dynamic, and democratic society.

Question: Brijesh, you are a renowned political strategist and tactician, and your work has led to impressive victories, even against the odds for the candidates you aid. There have been rumors about you potentially standing as a Member of Parliament next year. Are these exciting rumors true?

Brijesh Gajjar: It may seem paradoxical that while I promote political involvement, I am actively stepping away from political endeavors for the time being. To be completely honest, my wife, Dr. Sumeesha Jaswal, and I are in the third trimester of our pregnancy and expecting a blessing very soon. As my wife is a psychiatrist, I need to ensure our baby has a nurturing environment, and I want to be the supportive husband that my wife deserves. Canvassing my political agenda would limit my family and personal life at this stage, which goes against my family values. I firmly believe I will not contest a parliamentary seat in the next general election.

Question: Many congratulations; that’s excellent news. Will you consider standing in elections in the future, and what will you do in the meantime?

Brijesh Gajjar: As of September 12, 2023, I was uncertain about what the future holds for me. For now, my focus is inward, toward my family. My wife, Sumeesha, is a poet who has published “Reverie.” I hope to sit with her and write a few poems, all while giving our golden retriever puppy, Misty, belly rubs. Additionally, my in-laws, Saroj Jaswal and VMS Jaswal, haven’t spent much time with us due to their busy careers as biochemists and ongoing home renovations in Mohali/Chandigarh. I cherish the idea of a family retreat, especially since they couldn’t attend our Godh Bharai Rasam. Politics and activism are close to my heart, and I am certain they will find a way to flow through me in some capacity in the future.

Since my wife is a poet, I would like to dedicate a poem to the apple of my eye—Dr. Sumeesha Jaswal:

In Shimla’s serene embrace, beneath the moon’s soft sheen,
Sumeesha, in her third trimester, a radiant, expectant queen.
A psychiatrist at Himachal’s heart, her wisdom’s sweet grace,
In her tender care, souls find solace in her embrace.

Loreto Convent Tara Hall and IGMC, where her dreams took flight,
Now she shines as a beacon, in day and starry night.
A poet, too, with “Reverie,” her words take flight,
As she awaits new life, bathed in love’s pure light.

In this chapter, as a mother-to-be so free,
Her strength and love, an inspiring decree.
Under Shimla’s canopy, where dreams unite,
Sumeesha’s love and warmth, in the silvery night.
