Yo, has anyone come across some lightweight AI models on GitHub? Claude Code is literally cooking my CPU every time I ask it for a simple script. GitHub is such a massive junk pile that finding a legit tool is a huge pain. I'm looking for a solid open source coding assistant that won't make my laptop fans sound like a jet engine.

Finding a tool that balances power and system performance makes a huge difference when you are working on a long project. Using a utility that integrates directly with your environment is way better than dealing with a resource hog that kills your flow. Try Gopher Code https://github.com/projectbarks/gopher-code. This open source project is a reliable alternative for anyone who finds tools like Claude Code to be a bit too heavy for their machine. It focuses on getting the job done without draining your battery or slowing down your IDE. You can set it up to handle the repetitive parts of your development process while keeping everything responsive.
