u4gm Path of Exile 2 How to Defeat Tavakai Fast

By the time you make it to Ngakanu Island in Act 4, Tavakai, the Tukohama Chieftain, is the wall standing between you and progress. He’s holed up in The Heart of the Tribe, waiting in his ceremonial hall after you’ve slogged through the jungle. This fight can be a great early way to snag a bit of loot and even vendor recipe gear, which means more PoE 2 Items for you if you know how to handle it. His first phase feels almost slow and predictable — big telegraphed swings, stomps that shatter statues sending shards flying, and a nasty chain pull that can end the fight in a heartbeat. Keep moving through him to stay behind; from there most of his strikes miss entirely, giving you clear openings to chip away at his health until he smashes the floor and triggers the next stage.

Phase two pulls you outside into a round arena dotted with eight statues, and things get busy fast. Five of them spring to life, each bringing its own brand of chaos. One blasts lightning across huge chunks of the arena, another spawns serpent-like hazards that slow you right down, and there’s an ice beam that slices the space clean in half. Vines can take over almost everything, forcing players into tiny pockets just to survive. Even though there’s a lot going on here, the game plan barely changes — watch Tavakai’s animations, circle behind, and hit only when you’re sure he can’t swing back. You’ll be dodging hazards constantly, so it’s better to stay alive with slower, careful damage than risk a death going all in.

By the time you hit phase three, the chieftain’s full monstrosity is on display. He’s bigger, spikier, and his reach is ridiculous. Every hit feels like it covers half the arena, and his swings often leave damaging ground effects right where you were standing. The statues don’t stop either, so you’re still weaving through lightning strikes, ice beams, and crawling vines. His windups are longer now, which ironically gives you the only safe windows to attack. Melee players need to dart in during these pauses, unload their best shots, then roll out before the hit lands. Ranged players have it easier but still can’t afford to stand still too long. One lapse in attention and the fight’s over.

Patience is honestly your biggest weapon in this last stretch. His damage will crush greedy plays, and the ground effects force constant movement. Every time he locks into a heavy animation, that’s your cue — go in hard, then get out. Stay disciplined, dodge through danger zones, and keep your health topped up. Drop him here and you’ll not only finish Act 4 but walk away with the loot he’s guarding, which can be perfect for trading or upgrading with u4gm PoE 2 Items.
